Scarlett Belle strikes a chord in the US

Quote:
DESPITE her top industry connections, Tamara Jaber insists she's going to make it on her own terms.

Jaber, married to 2DayFM's Kyle Sandilands, is one half of pop group Scarlett Belle, alongside Reigan Derry. The duo have signed to Sony Music locally and are close to inking a deal with Capitol Records in the US.

"At the end of the day, we are the ones who have to go into the meetings and sing and put ourselves out there," Jaber tells Insider. "In America, they have no idea who Kyle Sandilands is, nor do they care."

That said, this Insider would be surprised if Sandilands' Austereo bosses don't give Scarlett Belle's single, Closure, a good spin when it's released later this month.

Jaber is formerly of Scandal'Us, and Derry was a contestant on Australian Idol in 2006.

Scarlett Belle's debut single and album has been three years in the making, with Jaber and Derry basing themselves primarily in Los Angeles. There, they worked with some big names, including Snoop Dogg, Ne-Yo and Jay-Z.

"It's been a long time coming," says Jaber."It's a very difficult industry. It's timing, it's luck, it's talent. It's not just who you know."

Scarlett Belle's as-yet unnamed album is due for release this year.
